# Rule 1 (A.A.U. Four-Wall Hardball Rules, 1931, historical)

> **Historical rulebook: not the current rules.** The current rules are here: https://handball.theperfectship.com/rules/four-wall/

Standard hard ball courts shall have four walls enclosing a floor space for playing, approximately 65 feet long and 25 feet wide. The front wall should be 30 feet high and the back wall 12 feet high. The side walls may be of even height with the front wall for their entire length, or may taper down to the height of the back wall.

The building and use of standard courts is advised, although for the time being championships may be held on courts of other sizes, but not less than four walls. Such courts should be at least 50 feet long and 22 feet wide, with height in proportion.
